CARL BEUKES
Director
Carl matriculated from the National School of the Arts in 1995. He pursued his career in acting by performing in children’s theatre and various other theatre productions, such as: Sheare Madness – dir. Malcolm Terry, Macbeth – dir. Megan Wilson, Amadeus – dir. Alan Swerdlow, Certified Male – dir. Tim Plewman and more.
He also performed in various television and film productions and to keep the landlord at bay, he performed in more than 30 different television and film commercials.
In 2003, Carl moved to London for two years. Not agreeing too well with the weather and other grey areas of the city, he returned to South Africa in 2005 with a revived appreciation for the quality of life and talent in this country.
He then landed the role of Paul McPhereson in Isidingo. He also landed the opportunity to play the part of Macbeth – directed by Mark Graham. After which he shared the stage with his sister, Karen Beukes and The South African Ballet Theatre, in the ballet, Rock-A-Tutu dir. Ian Von Memerty. Carl played the narrator.
Through years of experience on stage and off, Carl has always held the role of ‘directing’ as a goal to achieve. Thanks to Bernard Jay, Carl has grabbed the bull by the horns and again dived into the deep.
